Atlantic Nightfall (Humanity 1)

A Point-&-Click adventure where you explore your surroundings and pick from the tools at hand to conquer each new challenge.

On a frozen planet that lost its atmosphere overnight, the Atlandia Nature Preserve project is the last beacon of hope for humanity. This theme-park-turned-refugee-city and its handful of resource production stations are all that survived. The only things resilient enough to survive outdoors anymore are the biomechanical "Prox-C" drones that were designed to construct Atlandia. The machines are years beyond their end of life, but with careful planning and genius self-maintenance, they continue to support the city.

Follow Garrette Smith and his band of fellow scientists as they struggle to survive this harsh world. They only just started adapting to their new lives in an air-tight supply station, but something, whether nature itself or an entity more sinister, seems bent on exterminating them all.

I'm still struggling to find ways to minimize the volume of drawings and renders I have to create for this (not being a trained artist) without making the end result look completely amateur. I don't feel like I'm in a confident enough place to communicate this project with collaborators, but I would like to find a real artist to contract with at some point. If you're open to using a mixture of Blender 3D modelling and digital painting, come talk with me on Discord.

Follow the story of Garrette "Avoma" Smith and his team of researchers as they struggle to survive on a lonely ice-ball planet. Chapter 1 is planned to release first, and then chapters 2-7 may be delayed for several years until some of the parallel projects are completed.

2014 I need some practice writing stories before I launch this bionicle game. Maybe I'll type up the origin story for this "The Engineer" character over the summer and then get back to finishing up the adventure game's levels this Fall.
2018 Since Lux Nova has to get re-invented for a new universe anyway, maybe I should rewrite this Maker origin story at some point. Something simple, like a visual novel, maybe. With some adventure mechanics. And...
2020 Aaaagh! Ok serious, BARE MINIMUM game mechanics this time! I keep getting nowhere. This. Has. To. Stay. Simple. Mystlike exploration game with some character dialog and minigames, just like the old flash webgames that inspired this project. That can't be so hard.
2023 I'm still working on this from time to time, I swear! (I'm totally not...)
2 June 2025 Wait, progress??? I rediscovered my story document from where I started to novelize the script a few months ago. Making some strides so far. Not sure if I'm going to pivot from making it a game, but who knows? Maybe I'll release both at some point. If nothing else, it's helping me figure out the pacing and direction for some key details.
